Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. Her albums span over 20 years. DiFranco classifies her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative, but it also has influences from hip-hop, punk and jazz. Ani Difranco has been deemed to be a feminist hero as well as a Grammy award winner. Being one of the early female musicians in the 90s, she founded her own label. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They began their relationship at their school, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father was Italian descent and her mother came from Montreal. 32 Flavors is a song written as well as performed by Ani DiFranco. It is a track from her album Not a Pretty Girl, which was DiFranco's sixth studio release. The track was included in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. In 2013 DiFranco apologized when it was revealed that she would be hosting an event for three days in the former Louisiana plantation for slaves. While she had to cancel the workshop, many people (including our own paper) were not able to feel remorse. DiFranco issued another apology several days later. While she's been referred to by the name of Little Folksinger, her music spans many genres and collaborators ranging from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. She is a resident of New Orleans. DiFranco attended Buffalo State College after graduating at the age of 16 from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. There she lives with husband, children and her long-legged pet Lefty. DiFranco states that she's not sure about the idea of looking at her career retrospectively, even though it's been over three decades. Punk/folk singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco ascended to musical hero recognition at age 25 among both fans and critics after her seventh album Not A Pretty Girl in 1995 and even greater popular recognition through Dilate in 1996. The song Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) is a 1972 hit song written by American pop rock band Looking Glass from their debut album Looking Glass. Elliot Lurie wrote the song.
